William’s parents enrolled him in Kumon because they were looking for something extra that they could give their children so that they would not struggle through school. William’s mum had the following to say: “For me, Kumon is an insurance policy. Many of us insure our cars, our health and our houses in case something goes wrong. I wanted to insure against my children’s education to give me peace of mind that as parents we were giving William every opportunity to realise his full potential. I really want to create an environment at school where he sails through his academic work and enjoys it rather than feeling like he can’t do it before he even tries. This is where Kumon comes in for us. By the time William encounters new maths work and english tasks at school he is already well rehearsed in them from Kumon.”

Not only is William studying well ahead of his school grade level, but Kumon has developed his confidence, self-esteem, ability to believe in himself and face difficult tasks head on, perseverance and discipline. This is what he has to say about his journey at Kumon:

“I’ve been doing Kumon since I was four and a half and it has become just a part of my life. When I have friends over they always see my Kumon awards and ask me where I got them from. I tell them it’s a programme where you do extra work to become better at school. Some of them say ‘wow’ and want to tell their mum about it.

When I grow up I’d like to be an inventor. I’d like to invent a four decker plane, which will be much bigger than the A380. It will fly in space and I think I’ll call it the A3825. I love drawing and at school we do dance and I love rap and rock dancing. It’s really cool. I have decided I’d like to complete the whole Kumon programme because I’ve come so far already and I think it would be great to finish the programme and maybe even help teach other children Kumon one day.”
