Centre Flow

Enjoy Self-Learning

The Kumon Method is an individualised learning method. Each student progresses at his or her own pace. The Kumon Instructor supports each student in developing his or her self-learning ability.

Diagnostic Test

Determining the starting point

Initially, the student will complete a Diagnostic Test. The Instructor will then carefully analyse the result of the test and determine the student's starting point.
The Kumon Programme consists of a series of worksheets in several levels, and students move to the next level at their own pace. Deciding the appropriate starting point is the key to self-learning from the very first day.

Attend a Kumon Centre weekly

Study worksheets independently

Students have an opportunity to visit their Kumon Centre twice a week. As Kumon emphasises the importance of self-learning, there is no teaching given in Kumon Centres.
Kumon students are encouraged to study worksheets independently, without being specifically taught. The Kumon worksheets are carefully designed in such a way that students can solve the problems on their own.

The Instructor supports self-learning

Ensuring the “just right” level of study

Before each Centre day, the Instructor prepares the “just right” level of worksheets for each student. At the Centre, the Instructor carefully observes students, to ensure that every student is studying at their “just right” level.

The worksheets are completed by students independently

Develop good study habits and deepen understanding

Students complete their assigned worksheets for the day and then submit them to be marked. The marked worksheets are then returned to the students. If there are any mistakes, students correct these on their own.
By completing the worksheets independently, students will deepen their understanding of the content and develop good study habits.

Enjoy doing homework daily

The “just right” level of homework is assigned for every student

After students finish their study in the Kumon Centre, the Instructor assigns the appropriate worksheets to be completed at home, making parental support very important in the Kumon Method.
The completed homework is then submitted to the Instructor at the beginning of the next Centre day. Submitted homework is then assessed by the Instructor.
