Kumon is now open in Kenmore, in southwest Brisbane, to help all local children develop confidence in the basics of maths and reading.
Kumon Kenmore is led by Instructor Sarah Tay, a Kumon parent and former educator. She chose to become a Kumon Instructor after seeing the programme’s benefits in her own daughter.
“I saw how the programme helped her develop confidence, independence and a more positive approach towards learning,” Sarah says.
“As an educator, the Kumon philosophy also aligns strongly with my belief that every child is capable of learning when given the right foundations and support. I wanted to create a centre where children can build not only strong academic skills, but also the confidence and resilience to become lifelong learners.”
Sarah believes that Kumon can support all children in their learning, regardless of whether they need extension or support in catching up.
“In every community, children have different learning needs. Some may need support to strengthen their foundations, while others may benefit from being challenged beyond their school level,” Sarah says.
“Kumon provides a structured and personalised learning programme that gives children the opportunity to reach their fullest academic potential.”
“By providing a consistent pathway for students to develop strong maths and reading skills, Kumon can support local families in accessing quality educational enrichment that complements their child’s learning at school.”
Kumon Kenmore is located at Shop 73, 9 Brookfield Road, Kenmore QLD, 4069. Classes operate from 3pm to 6pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Sarah looks forward to welcoming many new families to Kumon Kenmore.
“I am excited to bring my educational experience and passion for helping children grow into my Kumon centre,” Sarah says. “My hope is to create a welcoming community where every child feels capable, supported and empowered to become a confident lifelong learner.”
