Kumon Hampton Park Education Centre, located in Melbourne’s far southeast, is now operating under the guidance of a new Instructor, Shikhar Mittal.
Shikhar transitions from a 20-year career in IT and project management to pursue his passion for education. Shikhar mentored and coached his colleagues throughout his career, and felt deeply rewarded through this experience.
Shikhar now wants to apply these skills towards supporting children in his local area to develop confidence in the basics of maths and reading.
“I chose to become a Kumon Instructor because I strongly believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for shaping a child’s future,” Shikhar says.
“Throughout my career, I have enjoyed mentoring, coaching, and helping people achieve their goals. Kumon’s focus on developing independent learners, confidence, and strong academic foundations aligns with my personal values.”

Shikhar believes that Kumon can make a big difference for children in the local community, providing them not only with strong foundations in maths and reading, but skills they will use for life.
“Beyond academic achievement, Kumon develops important life skills such as perseverance, self-discipline, responsibility, and independent learning,” Shikhar says.
“These skills help students become confident learners who are better prepared for school and future challenges. Kumon Hampton Park operates from Hampton Park Baptist Church, 1 Orient Place, Hampton Park, VIC 3976. Classes operate on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.
