Cayla may only be in Year 3, but she has already achieved something remarkable. She has completed the Kumon English programme.

Cayla started Kumon in Kindergarten and, three years later, has now finished. Reaching that milestone at such a young age is a significant achievement. It reflects the consistency and determination she has shown throughout her learning journey.

“I feel privileged and honoured and I’m very proud that I made it through with the help of my parents,” Cayla says.

Outside the classroom, Cayla enjoys art and sees a strong connection between her Kumon English study and her creativity. Reading a range of texts through Kumon has helped broaden her imagination, giving her new ideas to draw on when she creates her own artwork.

“Sometimes the books have magic and absurd things,” Cayla says. “It kind of helps me with my imagination in art if I don’t have a reference to actually copy and draw.”

Cayla has also had success beyond Kumon. She shares that she recently reached regionals in public speaking and spelling bee, and also achieved a high distinction. These accomplishments reflect her confidence as a learner and her willingness to challenge herself in different areas.

Looking ahead, Cayla has already set herself some thoughtful goals. In learning, Cayla wants to continue reading more widely and discover new genres, especially nonfiction. She would like to expand her reading and keep learning in new ways.

Cayla is also beginning to imagine what her future might look like. Later in life, Cayla says she would like to become a doctor and a writer. She believes her Kumon study is helping to build the vocabulary, reading comprehension and understanding of book structure that will support her if she chooses a career in writing.
