Kumon Port Melbourne Education Centre, in the city’s inner southwest, is now operating under the guidance of a new Instructor, Arti Bassi.
Arti joins Kumon following a career in the finance industry. She developed a passion for education through her experience of raising her own children.
“From their early days in kindergarten to now both pursuing the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine, I’ve witnessed firsthand how consistent guidance and encouragement can shape a child’s mindset and unlock their full potential,” Arti explains. “This experience continues to fuel my belief in the power of education and the importance of nurturing each child’s unique learning journey.”
“As a Kumon Instructor, I want to pass on that same guidance and help students experience a positive change in their learning journey. I decided to take over Kumon Port Melbourne after meeting the previous Instructor and being inspired by her dedication to the progress of every student.
“I would love to continue that same attitude and passion, nurturing students in both mathematics and English.”
Arti wants Kumon Port Melbourne to continue contributing to the local community through helping students develop confidence in the basics of maths and reading, a role that this well-established Kumon centre has been playing for decades.
“Kumon supports the local community in many ways”, Arti says. “Firstly, by nurturing children’s core skills such as comprehension, numeracy, and problem-solving, it helps them grow into confident and independent learners who can actively contribute to the community.
“Secondly, by supporting parents in their children’s academic goals, Kumon strengthens families and creates a positive home learning environment.”
“In addition, Kumon works in alignment with local schools to raise educational awareness and foster a culture of lifelong learning. Overall, Kumon plays a vital role in building a community that is confident, connected, and committed to the growth of its younger generation.”
Classes at Kumon Port Melbourne are available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons from 3:30pm to 6:30pm. The centre continues to operate from its current venue, 150 Rouse Street
Port Melbourne, VIC 3207.
