At just 13, Year 7 student Aria is tackling complex equations usually reserved for senior high school. Through Kumon, she’s leapt years ahead of her peers in maths and she’s proud of it.
Aria began with arithmetic and geometric sequences and is now diving into converging, diverging, and oscillating limits.
“It makes me feel quite proud,” she says. “I’m glad Kumon’s given me the opportunity.”
The payoff of advanced study for Aria is clear. Lessons at school feel easier, and Aria says she no longer stresses over difficult topics. Instead of relying on teachers, she’s built the confidence to tackle challenges independently.
Kumon has also shaped more than Aria’s academic ability.
“It’s made me more self-sufficient and given me a sense of discipline,” she explains. “Even outside school, I can complete my work quicker. [I know] there won’t always be someone to guide you through everything. It’s better to be able to sort something out for yourself.”.
Aria’s ambitions go well beyond Kumon. She wants to excel in school and become a lawyer.
“I want to help people, tell their stories, and make sure they receive justice,” she explains.
And she knows Kumon continue to play a role in whatever she chooses to do.
“The discipline I’ve learned [in Kumon] will carry throughout my life,” Aria says.
